Grandmaster Carl Totton
Professor Carl Totton is the founder of the Taoist Institute in North Hollywood, CA. He has studied the Chinese healing, spiritual, and martial arts for over 45 years and is licensed as a clinical and educational psychologist.
He is certified as both a Reiki master, and qigong and martial arts grandmaster. He has worked in many clinical settings including private practice, hospitals, community mental health clinics, schools, and a college counseling center.
Dr. Totton has taught at five colleges and universities, including two schools of traditional Oriental medicine. He is listed in the US Martial Arts Hall of Fame and over twenty volumes of Who’s Who biographies, including Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World. Professor Totton has taught many of the most prominent members of the film, music, and entertainment industries including “A-List” celebrities, executives, and athletes.
Dr. Totton is Pedram’s primary teacher who has helped guide him since he was a young man. He is known as the “Light Bearer” for the traditional martial arts community. His life-long dedication to the arts has helped preserve the roots of many esoteric and secret traditions. He has studied with the best of the best and has preserved these teachings through the living lineage of his most senior students.
He studied with the legendary grandmaster Ark Wong as well as figures such as Ed Parker, Douglas Wong, and Grandmaster Tino Tuiolosega.

Master Yo Hoon
Master Yo Hoon is Pedram’s primary meditation teacher. He is a dynamic teacher who often travels to Asia and helps monks find their way in their practice. He truly exemplifies a living example of an undivided mind and is an incredible human being. His primary influences are Buddhist and Taoist but Master Hoon is beyond all labels- he simply found his way. Pedram routinely sits with Yo Hoon and has incorporated many of his teachings into the curriculum of this school.
Master Hong Liu
A western-trained physician in China, researcher, and Grandmaster of Qi Gong, Master Hong came to the United States with the mission of bringing the knowledge and experience of natural healing to the West. He has dedicated his life to healing, research, teaching and establishing a non-profit organization, the Natural Healing Research Foundation to educate and research complementary health programs to help with the world’s greatest health challenges.
Master Hong has worked with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Cancer Institutes (NCI) researching Chinese herbs that may have significant therapeutic benefit in adjunct cancer treatment. He is an adjunct professor with the University of Hawaii. The University has been a co-sponsor of Master’s Asthma Humanitarian Event over the last four years and a Natural Healing Drug Rehab program for crystal methamphetamine addicts–both with encouraging results.
His mission is to show the efficacy of self-healing practices from natural healing to complement conventional health practices through education, implementation, and research. His vision is to teach and train the trainers through retreats and workshops as a direct method for people to prevent disease, enjoy greater longevity, and fulfill their innate potential.
Pedram studied with Master Hong during his training in oriental medicine. Master Hong has inspired much of the Health Qi Gong the Pedram teaches and his influence has helped many students find their inner longevity and vitality.
Master Luke Chan
The first Master of the Chi Lel Qi Gong system to be certified outside of China. He has practiced Qi Gong and Tai Chi for over 31 years. This is the system pioneered by Grandmaster Pang Ming. He has written several books on the subject and he has positively influenced thousands of students over the years.
Pedram trained in the Chi Lel system with Master Chan and has incorporated many of these principles in his health Qi Gong teachings.
